Hpa-an

Hpa-an is a town in Hpa-an, Myanmar.  It is the capital of Karen State.  More than 1,000 years ago, it was a small village on the banks of the Salween River with a total of about 200 houses.  There is a major cliff on the bank of the Salween River where the village is located.  The tip is itchy.  In Shan language, it is called Fa Ann (stone + tusk).  It changed its name from Hpa-An to Hpa-An.  The town was demolished in 1907.  The most famous mountain in Hpa-an Township is Zwekapin Mountain.  Zwekapin Pagoda is located on the hill.  Cogon Cave is located about eight miles to the right of the Salween River in Hpa-an, east of Mount Cogon.  Twelve miles west of Hpa-an is King Gigu (King Nyi Cave).  At the bottom of the cave is a hot spring lake.  Hot spring  Although the two cold springs flow side by side, there is no combination of hot and cold water.
