Bagan
Bagan (also known as Tampadipa) was the capital of Burma, the founding capital of the first empire of Burma. Due to the large number of ancient pagodas. It is a world-famous tourist destination. [1] On 6 July, the entire Bagan Archaeological Site was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Location
It is located on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River in Nyaung Oo Township, Mandalay Division. It is located 90 miles southwest of Mandalay.
History
After the end of the Pyu civilization, the Burmans, who came to central Burma in groups through Tagaung, began to receive literature from the indigenous peoples of Pyu and Mon. It inherited agriculture and culture and gradually gained strength. Originally a nation known for its warfare, the nations were united by the military view that unity was the only way to protect their lives and property. Thus, the villages in the center of their settlement were easily accessible by road, and Bagan was established.
Bagan was the seat of the fourth Bagan dynasty. From the reign of King Pyin Pya (846-876) to King Saw Monnit (1325-1368). [2]

There is no definitive historical record of the early Bagan dynasty, only oral histories, and it was not until the reign of Anawrahta that precise historical evidence was discovered. Due to Anawrahta's conquest, the kingdom of Bagan rose from a feudal lord to an emperor (empire). During the reign of his successor, King Saw Lu, the situation in the country worsened. During the reigns of kings such as Alaung Si Thu, the country regained its strength.

In 1287, the Mongols invaded and forced Narathihapat to flee Bagan, and Bagan's influence waned. Kublai Khan, the Mongol king, withdrew his troops because of Shindi's diplomatic skills. From then on, King Bagan was only a figurehead and the real influential people were the three Shan brothers.
Bagan today
Today, Bagan is just an old city full of ancient artifacts. However, these artifacts are found in the country and abroad. It is quite famous for attracting foreign tourists. It is a major tourist destination. However, it is not known as Bagan-Nyaung Oo because it is included as a Bagan Archaeological Site in Nyaung-U Township.
2016 The epicenter was reported at 12:05:55 a.m. MST on 12 August at a depth of 123 miles southwest of Mandalay (12 miles west of Chauk). A magnitude 6.0 earthquake has damaged about 65 pagodas in Bagan.
Topography
The Bagan Archaeological Site is located in Nyaung Oo to the north and Bagan Myothit to the south, on the vast plateau of the Irrawaddy River in upper Burma. It is located 290 km (180 miles) southwest of Mandalay and 700 km (430 miles) north of Yangon.
